No. You can read, search, listen, and bookmark without signing in. Signing in only adds cloud sync so your bookmarks, last-read position, and preferences follow you across devices.

Which Arabic text and translation do you use?

The Arabic text is the Uthmani script from the Tanzil Project (CC BY 3.0). The English translation is by Mohammed Marmaduke William Pickthall, which is in the public domain.

Yes. Open Settings to adjust Arabic size, toggle transliteration, and pick your preferred script.

Five royalty-free reciters: Mishary Rashid Alafasy, Mahmoud Khalil Al-Husary, Abdul Basit Abdul Samad, Saad Al-Ghamdi, and Abu Bakr Al-Shatri. Audio streams from EveryAyah.com.

Does audio keep playing when my screen locks?

On most mobile browsers, audio pauses once the screen locks. This is a browser limitation for web apps — installed PWAs don't have full background-audio rights the way native apps do.

Can I download recitations for offline listening?

Accepted Answer

Not yet. Recitation streams from the source CDN whenever you press play. We may add selective offline caching in the future.

How do I install myQuran on my phone or computer?

On iOS Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android Chrome, look for an Install prompt in the address bar or open the menu and tap Install. On desktop Chrome or Edge, click the install icon in the address bar.

Does it work offline?

Not at the moment. The installed app launches fullscreen and feels like a native app, but it still needs an internet connection to load surahs and stream audio.

Why doesn't my installed app update with the latest changes?

iOS and Android cache certain manifest settings (name, start URL, display mode) at the moment you install. The actual app content updates automatically whenever you open it, but those install-time fields only refresh if you uninstall and reinstall.

What syncs to my account when I sign in?

Bookmarks, last-read position, and reading preferences such as your selected reciter, script, transliteration toggle, and auto-advance setting.
